Venus, Bust and Torso (Series of Ceramic Sculptures, July 2012)

These sculptures are a contemporary take on the Venus of Milo. They explore our modern day perceptions and ideas about female beauty, ideals, sex and sexuality. These works originate from my strong fascination with the manner in which people relate to the objects around them. The forms make a reference to the torso and bust within the tradition of classical sculpture.

The Celadon Venus sculpture is currently on display in Kasteel Keukenhof’s sculpture garden in Lisse.
